Preparing for surgery

For your pet's safety and successful recovery, please follow these guidelines:

• While we do not have age requirements, it is recommended that all pets wait until 6 months or later when they are fully grown depending on size to be spayed or neutered since doing so earlier can cause growth related issues. A general rule of thumb is smaller breeds under 40lbs wait until 4-6 months. Medium sized breeds up to 70 lbs wait until 8 months. Larger breeds over 70lbs wait until 10 months to be spayed or neutered. Largest breeds such as great danes wait until a year of age
• Pets need to be up to date on their vaccinations and rabies if they are over 3 months of age.
• For smaller pets under 40 lbs, do not feed them 4 hours before arrival. For larger pets over 40 lbs, do not feed them 8 hours before surgery. 
• If upon examination pets have any medical issues, such as skin-related problems or are in heat, surgery may be postponed for a later date to ensure optimal health for the procedure.

What is the process?

You may give us a call anytime on our 24/7 number to schedule an appointment. When you come in, we will provide a no cost exam to assess your pet's health for surgery. No deposit is required and you may also cancel anytime at no cost. On the day of surgery, all spays and neuters must arrive at our opening time. When your pet is ready, we will give you a call for your pet to be picked up. When you arrive for pick-up, your medications will be provided and explained to you in detail as well as aftercare instructions. Our sutures are absorbable so there is no return date. For any questions during recovery, you may call us at our 24/7 number anytime. Our doctor is always available so that you have the greatest assurance. 

Spay and neuter pricing

If your pet is in heat, pregnant, cryptorchid or obese(for spays), there will be additional fees. Please give us a call or come by for a free examination to determine any extra costs. 

Pets that are in heat may have their surgery postponed to a later date when their heat cycle is over. Pets that have other medical issues such as skin infections may also have their surgery date postponed until these issues are resolved.
